Job summary

The University of Rochester is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to manage and optimize on-premise and cloud infrastructure, including virtualization, storage, and automation. You will design, deploy, and maintain scalable systems while ensuring reliability and security.

Responsibilities include leading HA clustering, coordinating between cloud and on-premise environments, and providing after-hours maintenance and 24/7 on-call support when scheduled.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with 7 years of related experience.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in a higher education or healthcare field preferred.
• Experience leading a team of Systems Engineers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages and administers on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure services including virtual infrastructure, operating systems, storage, maintenance and security patching, backup and disaster recovery preparedness, orchestration and automation and performance monitoring.
• Creates, reviews, and maintains technical documentation and solution designs.
• Leads discussions of new products and services to enhance infrastructure delivery and engages vendors as appropriate.
• Provides 24-hour on-call support when scheduled and acts as escalation point for on-call roles.
• Maintains broad knowledge of technology, equipment, and systems.
• Performs after-hours and weekend maintenance as required.
