Job summary

VT Group (VTG) is seeking a Systems Engineer in the McLean, VA area to act as a technical authority across network, compute, storage, OS, middleware, databases, and applications.

You will analyze existing environments, develop detailed engineering designs, and lead modernization, transformation, and migration initiatives, collaborating with System and Cloud Architects to deliver scalable, secure solutions.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
• Typically requires BS degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience.
• Hands-on systems engineering across networking, compute, storage, OS, middleware, databases, and applications.
• Experience analyzing and documenting as-is infrastructure, platform, and application architectures.
• Experience creating detailed engineering designs for modernization, optimization, transformation.
• Experience with System Architects and Cloud Architects.
• Experience leading cloud and system implementations, migrations, upgrades.
• Experience ensuring availability, scalability, performance, security, and compliance.
• Experience integrating infrastructure with DevOps and DevSecOps pipelines.
• Experience troubleshooting cross-stack issues across infrastructure, platforms, and applications.
• Experience collaborating across teams to resolve complete system issues.
• Experience developing technical documentation, diagrams, standards, and supporting docs.
• Strong communication skills to brief leadership and translate technical issues into business impact.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on systems engineering across network, compute, storage, operating systems, middleware, databases, and applications.
• Analyze and document current-state infrastructure, platform, and application architectures.
• Develop detailed engineering designs for modernization and transformation initiatives with System and Cloud Architects.
• Lead and execute cloud and system implementations, migrations, and upgrades.
• Ensure systems meet requirements for availability, scalability, performance, security, and compliance.
• Integrate infrastructure with DevOps and DevSecOps pipelines.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex cross-stack issues spanning infrastructure, platforms, and applications.
• Brief leadership on architecture, challenges, risks, and technical issues.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation and diagrams.
