Job summary

Critical Energy is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and optimization of mechanical and fluid subsystems for modular clean energy power plants. You will own cradle-to-grave system integration, from requirements through testing, collaborating with Turbomachinery, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Field Ops.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in systems engineering, strong fundamentals in structural and fluid mechanics, and comfort with CAD tools including Siemens NX.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in systems engineering with integrated machinery.
• Strong grasp of core mechanical principles including thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.
• Proficiency with CAD and willingness to learn Siemens NX immediately.
• Excellent analytical and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Define system requirements, interfaces, and performance targets for mechanical and fluid subsystems.
• Develop and maintain system-level architecture for mechanical and fluid components.
• Conduct trade studies on configurations, flows, and cost implications.
• Integrate pumps, piping, valves, heat exchangers, and rotating machinery into the system.
• Design structural support hardware and perform first-principles sizing calculations.
• Perform FEA to assess structural integrity and reliability.
• Optimize plant layout to improve constructability and maintainability.
• Develop test plans and instrumentation strategies for validation.
• Generate design documentation and manage vendor relationships.
