Job summary

TechHuman is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for a San Antonio-based client. You will own the IT infrastructure end to end as a direct-hire, full-time employee, providing escalation leadership for servers, networking, storage, and end-user systems.

You will lead the client’s cloud migration, design and implement security, backups, DR, and monitoring, and act as the trusted technical advisor to staff and leadership. Onsite work in San Antonio is required with occasional after-hours support.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in systems administration or systems engineering, including 3+ years at a senior or escalation level.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Windows Server and Linux administration.
• Deep knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Experience administering VMware vSphere and/or Microsoft Hyper‑V.
• Working knowledge of enterprise networking: firewalls, switching, routing, VLANs, VPNs, and wireless.
• Proven experience planning and executing migrations to Azure, AWS, and/or Microsoft 365.
• Experience implementing backup, disaster recovery, and monitoring solutions.
• Solid understanding of security practices, including patch management, endpoint protection, MFA, and access control.
• Strong documentation habits and the ability to explain technical topics to non‑technical staff and leadership.
• Ability to work onsite in San Antonio, Texas, and to support occasional after‑hours maintenance or outages.

• Configure and maintain firewalls, switches, VPNs, and Wi-Fi.
• Enforce security best practices, including patching, endpoint protection, MFA, and access controls.
• Lead the cloud migration roadmap: assess the on-premises environment and recommend a strategy across Azure, AWS, and/or Microsoft 365.
• Plan and execute migrations of workloads, identity, email, and file storage with minimal business disruption.
• Implement and regularly test backup, disaster recovery, and monitoring solutions to maintain uptime.
• Proactively identify risks and document systems, configurations, and procedures.
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for staff and leadership.
• Manage vendors and licensing, support hardware and software purchasing decisions, and align technology investments with company goals.
