Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer in Milford, Michigan, to analyze 12V performance data and own power consumption targets across components and ECUs. You will work with systems engineers to ensure traceability from requirements to hardware subsystems and drive optimization strategies across teams.

The role requires leading trade-off decisions, reporting to leadership, and developing test cases for low voltage systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in CS/EE/Engineering Tech or related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience as a Senior Systems Engineer or related occupation.
  • OR Master's degree with two (2) years of experience as a Senior Systems Engineer or related occupation.
  • Two (2) years of experience with embedded controls requirements development, architecture development and systems engineering.
  • Two (2) years of experience processing large amounts of information flow, identifying interdependencies.
  • Six (6) months of experience with vehicle electrical architectures, communication protocols and ECU wakeup strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze 12V performance data from the field and from test properties.
  • Own the total power consumption performance of complex components and ECUs.
  • Collaborate with systems functional engineers to ensure traceability of requirements to hardware subsystems.
  • Analyze and summarize status to energy consumption targets based on use cases.
  • Analyze competitive performance with respect to power consumption reduction and optimization strategies.
  • Drive action to address gaps across organizations.
  • Serve as SME for power consumption estimation and power reduction techniques.
  • Present project status to cross-functional leadership.
  • Lead complex trade-off decisions and escalation of power consumption issues.
  • Drive and own change management for power solutions using Jira and Epics.
  • Develop low voltage systems requirements and define appropriate test cases.

Lead complex trade-off decisions buy-offs and escalation of power consumption issues with vehicle and product teams. Drive and own the change management for solutions to power consumption issues through the organization using Jira and Epics. Develop low voltage systems requirements and define appropriate test cases.
