Job summary

KIHOMAC is seeking a senior Systems Engineer to conduct program reviews, evaluate design baselines, and ensure subsystem performance aligns with DoD specifications.

You will prepare technical documentation, support risk management, and participate in system validation, trade studies, and collaboration with government and contractor teams. US citizenship and Secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; 10+ years overall experience in engineering or DoD environments.
  • Experience reviewing Air Force system requirements documentation (SRDs, ICDs, CDDs, CONOPs) and supporting technical reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct systems engineering and program reviews to evaluate alternatives and ensure system performance meets specifications.
  • Prepare technical documentation and management reports supporting planning and corrective actions.
  • Perform system validation activities and analyze major engineering system results.
  • Provide SE support across acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, deployment, installation and operations oversight.
  • Support risk management activities in compliance with SEAM processes.
  • Conduct trade studies and analyses on system performance, cost, reliability, and schedule.
  • Assist with proposal evaluations, technical studies, audits, and IPT activities.
  • Review Air Force requirements and acquisition documents and support DOORS/Launchpad usage.

Job description

Expertise and Functions
  • Conduct systems engineering and program reviews to evaluate alternative plans, technical baselines, design efforts, and system-level test results to ensure subsystem and system performance meets approved program specifications

  • Prepare technical documentation, management reports, and technical presentations supporting planning, implementation, and corrective actions

  • Perform system validation activities, including development of criteria and procedures, and analyze results of major engineering systems

  • Provide systems engineering support across acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, deployment/fielding, installation, and operations oversight activities

  • Provide engineering support to program and project risk management activities in compliance with Air Force Systems Engineering Assessment Model (SEAM) processes

  • Conduct engineering trade studies and technical analyses involving system performance, effectiveness, cost, lifecycle cost, reliability, maintainability, risk, and schedule

  • Support proposal evaluations, technical studies, audits, analyses, and engineering IPT activities to assess technical feasibility, compatibility, and cost effectiveness

  • Review and analyze Air Force requirements and acquisition documentation including SRDs, ICDs, CDDs, CPDs, CONOPs, AoAs, Technology Development Strategies, FCAs, and PCAs

  • Support implementation and maintenance of system requirements within DOORS and Launchpad applications across branch systems

  • Support technical engineering reviews, meetings, and briefings with Government and Contractor personnel

  • Review and analyze system concepts, requirements baselines, and software integration activities in collaboration with Government and prime contractor teams

  • Apply advanced engineering theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods to ensure work remains aligned with program objectives, schedules, costs, performance criteria, and existing policies

  • Understanding of cloud-based systems, including management and projection of cost and performance, preferred

  • Experience supporting Agile software development environments, including SAFe Agile, CI/CD, DevSecOps, DevOps, and Agile sprint planning methodologies, preferred

  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills

    Education/Training:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred
    Experience:

  • 10+ years of general experience

  • 5+ years working in the DoD sector

  • Experience reviewing Air Force system requirements documentation including SRDs, ICDs, CDDs, and CONOPs

  • Experience supporting technical engineering reviews, meetings, and briefings

  • Experience in engineering and technical resources with either USAF command or control reporting systems, tactical radar, shelter and radome systems, aircraft trainer pods, radios and communication systems, EW systems, or threat emitters depending on the specific branch needs

  • Air Force systems requirements analysis and management

  • Systems engineering support across the acquisition lifecycle

  • Technical baseline management and system-level test and evaluation

  • Risk management support in compliance with Air Force SEAM processes

  • Trade studies and engineering analysis

  • Agile software development methodologies and DevSecOps principles

Security:
  • Must be a US citizen

  • Candidate must be in possession of a Secret Clearance
    Physical Requirements:

  • Able to occasionally reach with hands and arms

  • Prolonged periods of computer screen use, while sitting or standing at a desk

  • Adhere to safety protocols when in work areas requiring use of PPE (e.g. eyewear, gloves, masks, hearing protection, steel toed shoes, etc.)

  • Able to safely lift and carry up to 20 pounds at a time

Salary:

The projected salary range for this position is $114,000 - $134,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation, rather actual salary will be based on experience, qualifications, and applicable certifications or degrees held. Offered salary may fall outside of this range.
