The ideal candidate will function as the senior systems engineer, including architecture, management, and day-to-day maintenance of a Microsoft Windows infrastructure, Microsoft Enterprise applications, and various third-party applications hosted on-premises and in Azure.

Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team supporting a Federal Government customer in Rosslyn, VA. The candidate must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance – US Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder) and must not have traveled outside the US for a total of 6 months or more in the last 5 years. Residency in the US for the last 5 years is required.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain Microsoft Windows infrastructure, Microsoft Enterprise applications, and third-party applications on-premises and in Azure.
- Oversee daily operations, maintenance, and monitoring of server infrastructure.
- Establish monitoring requirements and develop alerting strategies.
- Coordinate maintenance activities, testing, scheduling, and change record approvals.
- Implement agency-wide programs, assess performance, and recommend improvements.
- Develop mitigation strategies for vulnerabilities, coordinate with IT Security, and implement changes.
- Manage domain services, system upgrades, backups, and hardware refreshes.
- Develop change requests and track hardware/software upgrades and patches.
- Document technical architecture, procedures, security, and disaster recovery plans.
- Respond to security events and incidents promptly.
- Research complex infrastructure issues and identify solutions.
- Identify issues, recommend solutions, and suggest enterprise upgrades.
- Proactively monitor logs, services, scripts, and applications.
Minimum Requirements
- At least 6 years of relevant experience with the listed technologies.
- Extensive experience managing Microsoft Windows Server OS, Azure, and VMware.
- Ability to independently manage server infrastructure projects.
- Expertise in Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, and security configurations.
- Knowledge of Azure services and scripting tools like PowerShell.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- 3+ years of experience in Azure Entra ID.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance and US residency requirements.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft System Center products.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field.
- Microsoft certifications.
Additional Provisions
- Must pass clearance and background checks.
- US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.
- Residency in the US for the past 5 years.
- No travel outside the US exceeding 6 months in the past 5 years, military service excluded.
