Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Systems Development Manager to lead a mature ALPINE engineering team, owning reliability, security, and strategic direction in AWS GovCloud. You will guide architecture, drive AI-integration readiness, and partner across Security, Compliance, and production operations.

You will manage hiring, OnCall leadership, and incident response to sustain Tier-1 services while modernizing the platform and automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of managing system or software development teams experience.
• Experience leading design, automation, deployment, and support of large-scale infrastructure.
• Experience programming with Python, Java, C++, C#, or Go.
• Experience with Linux/Unix and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience designing reliable, scalable systems and architectures.
• Experience mentoring and leading more junior engineers.
• Experience with AWS platforms and distributed systems at scale.
• Knowledge of ITAR/CUI compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead, grow, and develop a team of systems development engineers; own hiring and career growth.
• Own the operational health, reliability, and security of ALPINE's Tier-1 services across GovCloud and commercial environments.
• Set technical and operational strategy; steer architecture and roadmap with Sr. Engineers.
• Drive AI-integration readiness; enable AI agents to interact safely within user permissions.
• Represent ALPINE in cross-org forums and manage stakeholder relationships and escalations.
• Own OnCall leadership, incident response, runbooks, monitoring, and change management.
• Balance sustaining critical production services with platform modernization and automation.
• Set priorities, remove blockers, and shield the team to maximize performance.
