Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory seeks a Requirements & Architecture Systems Engineer to conceive, define and evaluate system-of-system requirements for defense applications. You will apply modeling, simulation and analytical tools to advance sensor, network, and missile performance with digital engineering for rapid deployment.

You will lead trade studies, translate mission needs into realizable specifications, and collaborate across teams to deliver scalable solutions,

Qualifications

• BS degree in a related technical field required.
• At least 3 years of professional systems engineering experience.
• Knowledge of full lifecycle systems engineering processes.
• Strong speaking and writing skills.
• Ability to organize tasks and coordinate across multiple projects.
• Ability to travel periodically and obtain security clearances.

Responsibilities

• Design and refine complex system architectures for mission objectives.
• Lead rigorous trade studies to evaluate competing concepts.
• Evaluate and re-architect existing structures to improve performance.
• Use requirements management tools to elicit and document high-fidelity requirements.
• Translate mission needs into realizable technical specifications for downstream teams.
