Job summary

Particle Measuring Systems in Niwot, Colorado, is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to serve as the system-level authority across optics, electronics, firmware, software, and mechanical disciplines. You will drive architecture, integration, verification, and best practices, with a path toward leadership as the function grows.

You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing and quality teams to ensure performance, testability and successful design transfer across programs.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering/Scientific discipline required; MS or PhD preferred.
• 8+ years in complex instrumentation or precision product development with real time systems, optics and sensors.
• System-level integrator across multiple engineering disciplines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with modelling/validation.
• Experience with requirements management tools (JAMA, DOORS, etc.).
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and Python; knowledge of QBD methodologies.
• Knowledge of control systems, sensor integration and embedded systems.

Responsibilities

• Own system architecture development including decomposition and interfaces.
• Serve as system-level technical authority in architecture decisions and trade-offs.
• Make system-level decisions on architecture, interfaces, and verification; resolve cross-discipline disputes.
• Lead requirements engineering with full traceability from customer needs to verification.
• Drive system-level integration strategy for performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Identify and mitigate cross-functional risks early in development.
• Define and execute system-level verification and validation strategies.
• Lead root-cause analysis of complex system issues using analytical methods.
• Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and quality for design transfer and ramp.
