Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking a Systems Engineer to own the architecture that fuses spatial sensing with keyboard, mouse, and trackpad input on Mac. You will define end-to-end requirements and drive cross-functional collaboration to improve input efficiency without sacrificing comfort.

You will run human-performance studies, build measurement tools, and prove through data that the integrated system enables faster, more accurate interaction on Apple vision products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, HCI, or related field.
  • 6+ years in systems engineering, HCI, or input-technology roles.
  • Deep experience in HID, sensor fusion, or human-computer interaction on shipping hardware.
  • Fluency in trade-offs between input speed, precision, and fatigue across devices.

Responsibilities

  • Define system-level architecture for fusing spatial input with keyboard/mouse/trackpad signals into a single low-latency model.
  • Set ambitious input-efficiency targets and validate against Mac baselines across tasks.
  • Own specifications for preserving high-rate text input while enabling fusion to assist, not replace, typing.
  • Build measurement methodology and test harness for throughput, error rate, and fatigue metrics.
  • Decompose fused-input experience into requirements across sensors, firmware, and macOS integration.
  • Partner with Sense & Constellation, Display Systems, and UX teams to land an end-to-end spec.
  • Run human-performance studies, own data, and define what's faster in real-world use.
