Job summary

The Amatriot Group seeks a Senior Systems Architect / Independent Technical Evaluator to support the assessment and implementation of a mission-critical Navy environment in Charleston, SC or San Diego, CA. This senior role requires broad hands-on expertise across hardware, Linux, networking, automation, and software development.

The ideal candidate will independently evaluate the complete technology stack from bare-metal provisioning to Go software, ensuring security, reliability, and Navy

Qualifications

• Senior/expert-level experience designing, engineering, administering, or evaluating complex enterprise or mission-critical computing environments.
• Hands-on experience with bare-metal provisioning and physical server infrastructure.
• Expert-level Linux administration, preferably including Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
• Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts and practices.
• Experience with Puppet or comparable configuration-management/automation technologies.
• Software-development experience using Go (Golang). Familiarity with the Go standard library.
• Strong understanding of network engineering, including routing, switching, and troubleshooting.
• Experience working in secure DoD or classified environments.
• Ability to analyze unfamiliar systems and develop defensible technical conclusions.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an independent technical assessor and evaluator for the Navy system implementation.
• Evaluate architecture, configurations, integrations, and approaches across the full technology stack.
• Assess hardware, including server components and provisioning workflows.
• Review and validate IaC implementations and infrastructure automation.
• Assess Linux environments (RHEL) and system administration practices.
• Evaluate SDN and network configurations within secure environments.
• Review configuration-management, version control, and change control processes.
• Communicate findings to Navy leadership and stakeholders.
• Support transition from legacy to replacement systems with an independent perspective.
