Job summary

Hampton Roads Transit seeks a Sr. Systems Administrator to lead deployment and support of datacenter infrastructure, combining on‑prem systems with SaaS and IaaS solutions in a Cloud First approach. You will build out virtualization, manage backups, and maintain cyber security across Mission‑critical applications including SCADA.

You will work under the Director of Technology Services and take on after‑hours on‑call duties while ensuring end‑to‑end system availability and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
• 10+ years infrastructure management with 5+ years project experience.
• Experience with hybrid datacenter environments and cloud services (Azure, Office 365).

Responsibilities

• Lead the infrastructure lifecycle from requirements to maintenance across sites.
• Configure servers, storage, networking, and endpoints for ongoing projects.
• Manage virtualization and datacenter automation initiatives.
• Oversee backup solutions including disk and cloud strategies.
• Maintain cyber security posture with least-privilege access controls.
