GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Senior Systems Analyst is responsible for the technical administration, configuration, enhancement, and support of systems such as the Project Management Information System (PMIS). This role ensures data integrity, facilitates system integrations, and develops reporting solutions to optimize project delivery, resource management, and decision-making processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Troubleshoots, upgrades, tests, and maintains major systems and applications.
  • Works with customers to provide requirements and process analysis; develops system design and specifications.
  • Develops test data and scripts; updates documentation such as technical manuals and training materials.
  • Procures new systems and applications; works with vendors to implement and configure applications.
  • Assists in tracking application licenses, costs, and budgets.
  • Analyzes, creates, and executes test scripts and procedures for quality assurance.
  • Troubleshoots application issues; performs back-up duties as needed for systems administration.
  • Monitors performance of systems and resolves issues; provides level 2 support.
  • Manages integrations with other Enterprise systems and applications.
  • Provides support to the division/department and maintains awareness of new trends in the field.
  • Champions and models Sound Transit’s core values and demonstrates values-based behaviors.
  • Contributes to a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Follows Agency safety rules and integrates sustainability into business practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field. Experience: Five years in systems analysis or a related IT field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Principles and practices of computer science and information systems.
  • Operational characteristics of complex computer and network systems.
  • Preparing system specifications and test data.
  • Advanced principles and techniques for application implementation and troubleshooting.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Customer service principles.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience with Project Management Information Systems.
  • Familiarity with business software such as Jira and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in public transportation or government agencies.
  • Knowledge of ITIL and Agile methodologies.
