Job description

Senior Systems Analyst (Cloud & DevOps) is a hands‑on individual contributor responsible for designing, building, operating, and continuously improving AAAS’s cloud infrastructure and deployment automation platforms. This role focuses on AWS‑based systems, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation to support reliable, secure, and repeatable delivery of applications and services.

What You’ll Do
Cloud Infrastructure & Operations
  • Design, deploy, and maintain AWS‑based infrastructure using infrastructure‑as‑code practices.
  • Administer and optimize core AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, and related services.
  • Implement security best practices for cloud environments in partnership with IT Security.
  • Monitor system health, performance, availability, and costs; proactively address reliability risks.
  • Participate in on‑call rotations and incident response for systems owned by the role.
DevOps & CI/CD Enablement
  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using platforms such as GitLab CI or Azure DevOps.
  • Partner with development teams to standardize build, deployment, and release workflows.
  • Improve deployment safety through automation, testing, validation, and rollback mechanisms.
  • Integrate security scanning, secrets management, and compliance controls into pipelines.
Operational Resilience & Documentation
  • Document architectures, pipelines, operational procedures, and automation clearly and accurately.
  • Produce and maintain "as-built" and "as-operated" documentation to support IT Operations.
  • Serve as a technical partner to Application Development, Web Development, and IT Operations teams.
  • Provide tiered operational support and troubleshooting for cloud and deployment platforms.
  • Participate in infrastructure and platform initiatives aligned with AAAS technology strategy.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience in systems administration, cloud engineering, or DevOps roles.
  • Hands‑on experience operating production workloads in AWS or Azure environments.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or equivalent).
  • Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code tools and automation practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on root‑cause analysis.
  • Ability to work independently with defined objectives and broad technical latitude.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams without formal authority.
  • Discipline in documentation, change management, and following established standards.
Location

The anticipated initial rate of compensation for this position is between $110,000 and $146,000 per year.
