Job summary

Motion Recruitment Partners in New York, NY is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to own day-to-day IT operations in a fast-paced financial services environment. You will manage on-premise and cloud infrastructure across Windows and Linux, including Azure and M365, while maintaining strong security and reliability.

You will mentor junior staff, drive high-impact infrastructure initiatives, and participate in disaster recovery and on-call duties.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with Windows Server administration (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Hyper-V).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Cloud environments, specifically Azure (Entra ID, VMs, Storage, Networking) and M365.
• Hands-on experience in multi-domain forests, multi-site setups, and hybrid AD environments.
• Linux administration experience (Debian, Fedora).
• Strong automation and scripting skills (PowerShell).
• Knowledge of enterprise WiFi (Aruba) and network/security basics.
• Willingness to handle tier-1 and tier-2 desktop support alongside senior engineering tasks.
• Experience in financial services or similarly demanding enterprise settings.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day administration of on-premise and cloud infrastructure across Windows and Linux environments.
• Troubleshoot complex systems issues and perform root-cause analysis to prevent recurrences.
• Assist with everyday end-user requests and desktop troubleshooting as needed.
• Provide high-touch, executive-level technical support while managing tickets and escalation procedures.
• Create and maintain IT documentation, SOPs, and runbooks.
• Mentor junior team members and provide ongoing feedback on technical skills.
• Manage backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning; participate in on-call rotation.
