Job summary

Motion Recruitment seeks a Senior Systems Administrator in New York City to own IT infrastructure across on‑premises and cloud. You’ll lead Windows and Microsoft 365/Azure workloads, support Linux systems, networking, and enterprise apps, while mentoring juniors and establishing best practices.

You will work in a high-touch financial services environment, ensuring reliability, security, and operational ownership in a fast-paced setting. This is a full-time, exempt role based in NYC.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in systems administration or infrastructure engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Strong Windows Server, Active Directory, and M365/Azure expertise.
• Experience with Linux (Debian/Fedora) environments.
• Solid scripting and problem-solving skills; cloud and on-prem hybrid ops.

Responsibilities

• Administer Windows and Linux infrastructure across on-premises and cloud.
• Manage AD/Entra ID, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, DFS, WSUS, Hyper-V, Terminal Services.
• Oversee M365 and Azure environments, including storage and VMs.
• Support Windows endpoints and Office tools; manage device security.
• Troubleshoot complex issues; document SOPs and runbooks.
• Mentor junior staff and participate in on-call rotations.
• Maintain security, backups, DR, and compliance in a finance setting.
