We are seeking a skilled Hybrid Systems Engineer to design, implement, and manage integrated IT systems that span on-premise infrastructure and Microsoft Azure cloud environments. This role requires a deep understanding of hybrid architectures, ensuring seamless connectivity, security, and performance between on-premise systems and Azure cloud services. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with hands-on experience in system administration, cloud deployment, and automation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in systems engineering, with a focus on hybrid on-premise and cloud environments.
- Proven expertise in Microsoft Azure concepts and functionality.
- Strong knowledge of on-premise infrastructure (Windows, Linux, VMware, Hyper-V, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP).
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, or Bash).
- Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, DOD STIG).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Assist with mentoring junior team members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Job Specific Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize on-premise servers and storage to ensure high availability and performance.
- Design, deploy, and maintain hybrid IT environments integrating on-premise infrastructure with Azure cloud services.
- Configure and administer Azure services, including Azure Entra ID, Privileged Access Management, Office 365, Virtual Machines, Azure Monitoring, and storage solutions.
- Automate system administration tasks using PowerShell, Azure CLI, or other scripting tools to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Ensure security best practices across hybrid environments, including encryption and compliance with organizational policies.
- Perform configuration and setup activities such as developing and implementing templates for server builds, setting permissions and rules (e.g., privileged account access management/PIM), and working with Network and Applications personnel to assist with system/application/services into a cloud platform.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to connectivity and performance between on-premise and Azure systems.
- Perform regular system backups, disaster recovery planning, and testing for both on-premise and cloud resources.
- Stay current with Azure updates, emerging technologies, and industry trends to recommend improvements.
