Job summary

1/ST Technology is seeking a System Technician – Senior to support RDC and Field locations, resolving wagering availability issues across terminals, displays, and devices. The role travels domestically and internationally to assist openings, closings, and equipment moves.

Based in Hunt Valley, MD, the position involves testing software/hardware, assembling and configuring equipment, and providing onsite support for major events. Requires 7+ years in a technical role and travel readiness.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) or more years of experience as a Technician or Field Operator.
• Demonstrates basic understanding of computers and Microsoft operating systems.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook Express).
• Demonstrates ability to install both computer hardware and software.
• Demonstrates ability to use specialized tools, such as punch downs, crimpers, voltmeters and oscilloscopes.
• Demonstrates ability to use specialized software, such as serial emulators (Hyper terminal) and basic networking tools (ping test, Ipconfig, trace).
• Must have the means to travel on short notice, including renting a vehicle.
• Must maintain a current and valid driver’s license, credit card and passport.
• Preferred Experience and/or Education: Associate’s degree in a computer or electronics field.

SUMMARY

The System Technician – Senior position assists any RDC or Field location with resolving or escalating any issue concerning wagering availability including but not limited to: terminals, concentrators, TV displays and infields, administrative devices, power systems, configurations and daily processes. This position travels extensively, both domestically and internationally, to assist in openings, closings, and moves of RDC equipment from one track to another. Additionally, this position may also be required to travel or assist by phone in resolving an emergency situation under the guidance of the VP of Field Service. This role sometimes operates RDC for smaller venues and also may be required to perform Terminal Technician duties at big race day events, such as Triple Crown or Breeders Cup. This role is expected to take calls and respond even after normal working hours. When onsite at the Hunt Valley, MD location, this position is often called upon to assist other groups (CAC, OPS, Engineering, Product) in testing new software features and processes. Additionally, this role is responsible for assembling, configuring, and testing certain new or replacement hardware destined for the field.

HOURS OF WORK:

A minimum of forty (40) hours perworkweek with any overtime hours requiring pre-approval
