Job summary

NVIDIA is seeking a Senior System Software Engineer to advance open-source Linux kernel support for NVIDIA GPUs. You will develop virtualization features in Rust and C, contribute to the upstream kernel, and collaborate with open-source maintainers and partners.

You will own design proposals, work with KVM/QEMU/VFIO stacks, and help shape vGPU support in Nova. The role requires ownership, clear communication, and independent work across globally distributed teams.

Qualifications

• BS degree or higher in computer science, computer engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 12+ years of Linux kernel development or virtualization.
• Record of upstream Linux kernel contributions and patch series experience.
• Proficiency in Rust and C with memory safety understanding.
• Knowledge of Linux kernel internals and virtualization concepts.
• Strong debugging and analytical skills with kernel/system tools.
• Clear technical writing and collaboration across distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, document and maintain upstream Linux kernel support for NVIDIA GPU virtualization, including vGPU in Nova.
• Work across the Linux virtualization stack (KVM, QEMU, VFIO) on device assignment and memory management.
• Drive patch series through upstream design discussions, reviews and feedback.
• Debug and resolve functional, performance and reliability issues across host drivers and GPU firmware interfaces.
• Collaborate with internal teams and the open-source community to define features and maintain kernel support.
