Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Mechatronics/Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical fields
• Strong technical project management skills with the ability to manage multiple parallel projects
• 10+ years of relevant engineering work experience that includes minimum 7 years of System Safety engineering
• Proficient in inductive/deductive safety analyses to identify hazards and risk levels
• Proficient in applying Systems Engineering principles including SMART safety mitigations/requirements and verification/validation methods
• Master’s degree or PhD preferred
• Experience in safety-critical fleet operations and impact to hardware, software, and systems design
• Provide guidance on relevant safety standards and industry best practices
• Experience in optimizing safety management systems and processes

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional safety analyses as subject matter expert to identify hazards, assess risks, define requirements, drive mitigation and verification strategies
• Participate in operations design and readiness reviews and present safety risk to ELT
• Evaluate the continued effectiveness of implemented mitigations to ensure risk profile has not changed
• Solve challenging and ambiguous problems with long time horizons in safety engineering
• Articulate and influence new safety approaches to stakeholders across Product, Legal, Systems Engineering, and Operations
