The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks within our Rolling Stock Engineering Department. The position is based in Hagerstown , MD.AccountabilitiesThe main accountabilities include, but are not limited to:Prepare System Requirements Specifications (SyRS)Define and manage system interfaces (both internal and external) throughout the entire project lifecycleAnalyze and assess technical documentation from SuppliersPrepare and verify system installation/integration drawings/specificationsConduct design reviews (both internal and with suppliers) for the assigned onboard systems, under the supervision of relevant Engineering Managers and Project EngineersPrepare Functional Requirements Specifications (FRS) as well as Functional Test Specifications (FTS) (including performance tests) for the assigned onboard systemsAttend at system stand-alone type test and review of type test reportsSupport onboard integration, performance testing and validation phasesReview design documentation with customers and suppliersEnsure compliance with input requirements, international railway regulations and standards and project constraints (time, cost, quality)Prepare the documentation required for vehicle approval and support the homologation phaseRequired Skills/ Knowledge5+ experience in the Railway sector or in complex industrial environmentsGood knowledge of main railway regulations and standardsGood knowledge of IBM DOORS requirements management toolExperience with of engineering processes and railway operationsGood knowledge of system engineering and requirements management disciplinesGood knowledge of RAMS principles and processesExperience with design verification and validation methodologiesExperience with electrical / mechanical design software (AutoCAD, Creo, Catia, etc.)Good knowledge of electrical, electronic and mechanical engineering disciplinesGood knowledge of office automation software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced, international and multicultural environmentGood organizational skills, alongside team-working, problem-solving and results-driven mindsetAbility to liaise with internal and external stakeholders (including suppliers, partners, customers)Ability to work within project teams under minimal supervisionAvailability for occasional short-term national and international business tripsDesired Skills/ KnowledgeFast learner with strong willingness to stay up to date with technological developmentsGood business acumen combined with solid technical skillsGood communication and interpersonal skillsEducation/QualificationsMaster's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics disciplines preferred).Benefits:Hitachi Rail employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package including Competitive Pay, Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance, Short & Long Term Disability, Life & Accident Insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts, a Retirement Savings Plan, and Paid Vacation.
