Job summary

SDFM is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer in San Diego, CA. You will architect, deploy, and maintain secure Windows Server environments across multi-site infrastructures and lead AD, authentication, patch management, and hardening efforts to meet DoD standards.

You will develop automation using PowerShell, Python, Ansible, and Node.js, and collaborate with software, cybersecurity, Linux, and network teams on complex systems migrations and cloud/ on-prem deployments.

Qualifications

• Extensive design/implementation of Windows enterprise environments.
• Experience with AD, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy in large domains.
• Automation experience using PowerShell, Ansible, and Python.
• Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity standards and STIGs.

Senior Systems Engineer - San Diego, CA (On-Site) - $180,000-$200,000

Are you a senior systems engineering expert with deep experience in Windows enterprise environments, automation, and secure DoD infrastructure?

This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing defense technology company supporting mission-critical programs that directly impact the U.S. Navy and national security. You'll play a key role in architecting and maintaining secure enterprise systems while driving automation and modernization efforts across classified on-premises and cloud environments.

Who you are:

• 12+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise Windows environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
• Expert-level knowledge of Windows Server 2019/2022, RBAC, PKI, Kerberos, RADIUS, SCCM/MECM, WSUS, and infrastructure automation using PowerShell, Ansible, and Python.
• Strong understanding of DoD cybersecurity requirements including STIGs, CIS Benchmarks, Zero Trust principles, and Infrastructure-as-Code methodologies.
• Active DoD Top Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship required.

• Architect, deploy, and maintain secure Windows Server environments across multi-site, multi-domain enterprise infrastructures.
• Lead Active Directory, identity management, certificate services, authentication, patch management, and system hardening initiatives in compliance with DoD security standards.
• Develop and maintain automation solutions using PowerShell, Python, Ansible, and Node.js to streamline provisioning, deployment, configuration management, and operational support.
• Collaborate with software, cybersecurity, Linux, and network engineering teams to support complex systems integration, virtualization, cloud infrastructure, and mission-critical deployments.

What does this position pay?

Compensation is determined by several factors which may include skillset, experience level, and education.

The expected range for this role is $180,000-$200,000 per year. Please note this range is an estimate and actual pay may vary based on qualifications and experience.
