Job Description
We are seeking a technically skilled Systems / Software Engineering Support Specialist to support mission-critical application systems and infrastructure across multiple manufacturing locations. This role will focus on system uptime, application support, software deployment, infrastructure sustainment, troubleshooting, and validation activities.
The position will work closely with engineering, software, IT, networking, and manufacturing teams to maintain reliable systems used for vehicle electronic system validation and quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and coordinate application system architecture and infrastructure sustainment activities across multiple manufacturing locations.
- Test and deploy quarterly application version upgrades provided by software vendors.
- Perform and validate quarterly server patching activities.
- Provide application and system support for both planned and unexpected events.
- Troubleshoot application, server, PC, and network-related issues and identify effective solutions.
- Support Windows Server administration, PC formatting, system configuration, and related infrastructure activities.
- Support SQL database environments and troubleshoot system-related issues.
- Assist with networking, architecture, security, account management, and access-control activities.
- Support cybersecurity and IT compliance requirements, including access control and obsolete-system management.
- Support system and application change-point activities and ensure appropriate traceability.
- Participate in software development, equipment testing, and system validation activities.
- Support process improvement initiatives through application interfaces and system enhancements.
- Work with engineering and IT teams to identify opportunities for improving system reliability and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate activities with local and international engineering and IT teams.
- Develop and maintain project plans, monitor progress, manage scope, and support procurement/service activities.
- Provide weekend support when required for application management and maintenance activities.
- Document technical issues, solutions, processes, and system changes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of related experience in engineering, software engineering, systems engineering, or technical application support.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating environments, including Windows Server 2016+ and Windows 10+.
- Experience with SQL databases.
- Understanding of IT networking, system architecture, cybersecurity, account management, access control, and related infrastructure concepts.
- Knowledge of PLC I/O and industrial data networks such as:
- ControlNet
- DeviceNet
- Ethernet/IP
- FLNET
- Strong troubleshooting and technical support skills across applications, servers, PCs, and infrastructure.
- 2+ years of project management experience, including planning, procurement/service coordination, scope management, and progress tracking.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and build consensus.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical information to different levels of an organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the ability to visualize technical problems, solutions, work activities, and project plans.
- Ability to work occasional weekends to support critical application management activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with .NET technologies.
- Hands-on experience with PLC I/O and industrial data networks, including ControlNet, DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP, and FLNET.
- Experience supporting manufacturing, engineering, automation, or vehicle/electronic validation systems.
- Experience with software deployment, system validation, infrastructure sustainment, or application lifecycle management.
This is a collaborative, cross-functional role requiring regular interaction with engineering, software, IT, networking, cybersecurity, and manufacturing teams. The position is primarily on-site with the flexibility of one remote day per week, depending on project requirements.
