Job summary

Calance is seeking a Manufacturing Systems Engineer based in Georgetown, KY, to lead IT sustainment activities. The role requires strong engineering and project management skills, with responsibilities including troubleshooting, software development, and coordination across teams.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science and will work a hybrid schedule of four onsite days and one remote day.

Position: Manufacturing Systems Engineer

Duration: 12+ Months (On‑going Contract)

Location: Hybrid – Georgetown, KY 40324

Pay Rate: Open/Market Rate (W2 Only)

Must be local or willing to relocate at personal expense.

Hybrid schedule: 4 days onsite, 1 day remote (Mon‑Fri).

Responsibilities
  • Remotely lead, support and coordinate mission‑critical TVECS application system architecture & infrastructure sustainment activities for eight NAMC centers.
  • Software development and equipment testing.
  • Supporting validation activities and managing traceability for system processes.
  • Troubleshooting application issues and identifying solutions.
  • Testing and deployment of application quarterly version upgrades provided by software vendor.
  • Performing quarterly server patching validation activities.
  • Troubleshooting/application support for planned and emergent events.
  • Ensuring IT compliance (cyber security, access control, obsolete).
  • Support TVECS and connected‑system change point activity.
  • Infrastructure includes multiple servers and approximately 50 nodes that collect data from the internal application.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 3+ years of related experience in engineering/software engineering.
  • 2+ years of project management experience in planning, procurement service, scope control, and progress monitoring.
  • Knowledge of MS Windows operating environment (server 2016+, Windows 10+) and SQL database.
  • Understanding of IT networking, architecture, security, account management, policy, and webpage design.
  • Strong troubleshooting and technical support capabilities across applications, servers, and PCs.
  • Performing PC formatting, Windows Server administration, networking restructuring, and related system support tasks.
  • Ability to work cross‑functionally with local (North America) and overseas (Japan) manufacturing engineering teams and IT groups (network, firewall, security, account management).
  • Ability to visualize problems & solutions, work activity and project plans.
  • Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited program in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
Other Requirements
  • Ability to work weekends to support application management activities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work well with a team environment, and build consensus.
  • Verbal and written communication skills to effectively explain with multiple levels within the organization.
Preferred/Highly Desired Skills
  • Electrical Engineering or Computer Science background.
  • Knowledge of .NET technologies.
  • Experience with PLC IO and data networks (ControlNet, DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP, FLNET).
