Job summary

Workato is seeking an exceptional System Architect to lead the design and evolution of our platform architecture. You will drive secure, scalable, cost-efficient systems with hands-on Golang development and cross-team collaboration.

You will mentor engineers, craft architectural roadmaps, and partner with security, SRE, and product teams to set standards and best practices across a large microservice and monolith landscape.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building scalable distributed systems with 3+ years in System/Platform Architect roles.
• Proven experience architecting both large microservice environments (100+ services) and monolithic applications.
• Strong hands-on Golang coding skills - production-ready code.
• Knowledge of Protocol Buffers, gRPC, WebSockets, Kafka, PostgreSQL.
• Security & authentication: OAuth 2.0/OIDC, JWT, mTLS, zero-trust architecture.
• Infrastructure: Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, distributed patterns.
• Experience planning phased implementations and leading cross-team projects.
• Mentorship mindset and cost analysis capabilities.
• Experience with AI-assisted workflows in system analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design microservices and platform features from concept to production-ready specifications.
• Create technical designs and proofs-of-concept in Golang.
• Architect secure, fault-tolerant systems with automated failover and end-to-end encryption.
• Analyze existing architecture to plan gradual replacement of legacy components.
• Plan implementation phases, migrations, and feature deprecations.
• Lead architecture governance and cross-team collaboration to establish standards.
• Write ADRs, runbooks, API specs, and system diagrams.
