Job summary

WOOD Federal Solutions is seeking a System Administrator (Mid/Senior) to support a large, mission-critical network with distributed systems and air-gapped environments. The role emphasizes Windows Server, Active Directory, security, patching, and vulnerability management across complex enclaves.

The candidate should hold a relevant degree with extensive experience, be able to lift 50 lbs, and be eligible for a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related technical field and at least 8 years of relevant experience.
• Must have experience as a systems administrator providing direct support to end users and technical staff (developers, testers, engineers, etc.).
• Must be proficient with Windows Server 2019 and Active Directory.
• Must have experience with software/hardware deployment, patches, operating systems, and basic system backup and restore functions.
• Must have experience with SALT, Ansible, Splunk, Puppet, SolarWinds, Nessus.
• Must have experience with and/or have knowledge of Red Hat and VMWare.
• Must have a solid understanding of advanced security protocols and standards.
• Must have experience with both Client and Server virtualization environments.
• Must have experience with installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and reimaging hardware.
• Must have a solid understanding of information security principles and practices.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to support occasional day or short duration travel.

Responsibilities

• Installing applications, administering systems and processes, and ensuring issues are identified and resolved promptly.
• Ensuring server and desktop configurations are optimized and running continuously.
• Performing security management and application performance optimization functions.
• Administration/sustainment of a system that provides a web-based application for storing, sharing, and distributing information.
• Creating and maintaining complex server enclaves, including patching, cert renewals, vulnerability management, and Active Directory configurations.
• Identifying and correcting hardware and software issues.
• Responding to system administration, operations, and maintenance problems, and developing re-work solutions.
• Creating and maintaining documentation of complex server/network environments for incident resolution.
• Communicating with users and external support regarding outages and upgrades; advising management on resolutions.
