Responsibilities
- The Tools Specialist should have experience with and specific knowledge of SolarWinds.
- The specialist must have familiarity with SolarWinds to ensure the performance and reliability of the infrastructure, playing a key role in network monitoring, fault detection, and resource utilization analysis.
- Proficiency in customizing SolarWinds dashboards, alerts, and reports to meet organizational monitoring requirements is essential.
- Evaluate existing design details; work with a high-performing team to validate and update system information in the Monitoring Service Registry (MSR), collaborating with system owners, product managers, and technical support teams to ensure data accuracy.
- Analyze user requests, requirements, and use cases to develop monitoring strategies and apply suitable tools to achieve desired outcomes.
- Transform customer feedback into visualizations using agile methodologies to develop iterative designs and improve existing monitoring systems.
- Incorporate new systems and updates into the MSR, maintaining accurate and current data.
- Coordinate with the Health BLM team, product owners, technical support, and enterprise operations such as Event and Incident Management teams to support decision-making on technical issues.
- Implement solutions with the authorized toolset as required.
Qualifications
- Experience assessing products, tools, and approaches for data management, including interfaces and system impacts.
- High-level SolarWinds administration capabilities.
- Knowledge of Windows Server OS and server administration.
- Functional understanding of SolarWinds query language.
- Experience in analysis, interface design, rapid prototyping, testing, and user-centered design processes.
- Experience establishing and enforcing standards and practices.
- Experience installing tools and creating dashboards for users and executives.
- Familiarity with VA’s product portfolio and prior VA experience is highly desirable.
- Understanding of human factor engineering.
- Healthcare IT background is highly desirable.
- Experience with enterprise command and control operations is also highly desirable.
- Familiarity with application, infrastructure, and interface performance.
- Extensive experience translating program requirements into enterprise strategies for high-volume, high-availability applications, networks, and systems.
- Ability to develop user interface strategies that present actionable and retrospective data in a user-friendly format.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies, Scrum, and Sprint processes is highly desirable.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or related field, plus 5 years of experience.
- Alternatively, eight (8) years of relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
Clearance
- Ability to pass a Tier 2/Moderate Background Investigation.
Location & Hours
- Remote, USA
- Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM PST, with shift adjustments during upgrade weeks (5:00 PM - 9:00 PM PT).
Pay Range & Benefits
- Salary ranges from $61,730 to $68,500, based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
