Job description

We are seeking an IT Systems Administrator Contractor to work on an as-needed basis supporting Cyber Security and System Administration needs for clients across various industries in the United States. Travel to client locations will be required as per requests, with the ability to be onsite until the issue is resolved. This position involves supporting onsite projects across all 48 contiguous states, with an average of one to two weeks per assignment, and some remote support.

Responsibilities:

1. Manage all aspects of servers and networking platforms
2. Support Active Directory in an enterprise environment
3. Administer Domain Controllers, File servers, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware (from 5.x to 6.x), Hosts, VMs, Data Stores, Snapshots, VMDKs
4. Troubleshoot network and system issues
5. Monitor network and server infrastructure
6. Perform routine preventative maintenance
7. Administer network security measures to prevent breaches
8. Execute data backup and restoration procedures
9. Document technical procedures and user guides

Requirements:

1. Previous experience as a network or systems administrator
2. Ability to build and configure servers from scratch
3. Familiarity with administering firewalls from vendors such as SonicWall and Cisco
4. Knowledge of IT security methodologies including FTK imaging, Windows Live Response, VMDK exports
5. Understanding of VLANS and subnetting
6. Knowledge of TCP/IP and data protocols
7. Ability to prioritize and multitask
8. Detail-oriented with strong troubleshooting skills
9. Ability to work 7 days a week and travel within a 24-hour request
10. Ability to work independently or in a team, maintaining confidentiality

Basic Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, IT, or related fields
2. Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience
3. Ability to travel

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Certifications from Microsoft, VMware, Cisco
2. PMP Certification
3. IT Security Certification
