General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT seeks a Senior/Specialist Component Engineer to lead the Main Propulsion Switchboard and protective relay programs. You will guide component lifecycle, coordinate with Navy customer communities, and drive timely, compliant component delivery to the Columbia Class program.

You will oversee testing, vendor interactions, and design changes while mentoring junior engineers and ensuring rigorous engineering practices across projects.

Qualificações

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of post-graduate engineering experience in power systems, component development, electrical distribution equipment, testing, or similar fields.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
• Ability to travel and work second shift as required.

Responsabilidades

• Lead engineering activities for development, qualification, compatibility testing, and fleet sustainment of switchboard and relay components.
• Drive resolution of complex test findings at IPS CTF or shipyard.
• Lead evaluations, requirement verification, technical reviews, and design change proposals.
• Own resolution of technical liabilities through vendor interaction, field service coordination, testing, and formal justification.
• Interface with Naval Reactors, NAVSEA, and Naval Nuclear Laboratory through routine communication.
• Develop relationships with suppliers, shipyard test personnel, and internal engineering teams.
• Support obsolescence planning, design refresh efforts, and spare parts management.
• Mentor junior engineers to promote proactive problem-solving and technical excellence.
• Ensure adherence to EB engineering processes and program requirements.
