Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat seeks a Senior/Specialist Component Engineer to lead the Main Propulsion Switchboard and protective relay programs. You will oversee component lifecycle, drive issue resolution, and ensure timely, requirements-compliant delivery to the Columbia Class program.

You will mentor junior engineers and coordinate with Naval Reactors, NAVSEA, and Navy labs, while partnering with suppliers and shipyard test personnel to maintain high reliability in shipboard electrical

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of post-graduate engineering experience in power systems, component development, electrical distribution equipment, testing, or similar fields.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
• Ability to travel and work second shift as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, qualification, testing and fleet sustainment of switchboard and relay components.
• Drive resolution of complex test findings at IPS CTF or shipyard.
• Lead evaluations, requirement verification, technical reviews and design change proposals.
• Own resolution of technical liabilities via vendor interaction and field coordination.
