Job summary

United Therapeutics Corporation in Houston, TX is seeking a Senior Animal Technician to ensure exceptional care within our designated pathogen‑free (DPF) facility. This hands‑on role requires strict adherence to SOPs, precise recordkeeping, and the ability to mentor fellow technicians.

You will work 10‑hour shifts, weekends and holidays when needed, care for pigs including feeding and reproduction, assist the veterinary team with procedures, and author GMP documents.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in large animal care and handling.
• Working knowledge of animal husbandry, including nutrition, reproduction, and safety.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.
• Ability to work 10-hour shifts.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
• Strong attention to operational planning and follow-through.
• Knowledge of Animal Welfare and USDA/FDA/DEA regulations.
• Ability to author and follow SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day activities within the DPF, including feeding, washing, and care of pigs.
• Maintain animal husbandry records to meet GDP expectations and review records for accuracy.
