Job summary

YWCA Evanston/North Shore is seeking a Senior Swim Coach to create a warm, welcoming, safe environment and support the development of swimmers within the YWCA Flying Fish Aquatics Program. The role emphasizes coaching, program support, and instruction across age groups.

You will plan daily practices, attend meets, communicate with staff and families, and provide back-up coaching or lifeguarding as needed. A background in lifeguarding and youth programs is essential, with opportunities for growth

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience coaching competitive youth swimmers.
• At least 3 years of experience as a team member of a competitive swim team.
• At least 3 years of experience providing program support duties such as attendance tracking, email and voicemail communication, and administrative support.
• Experience providing swim instruction for youth swimmers of all levels.
• At least 3 years of experience in lifeguarding.
• Current USA Swimming Coach membership and Red Cross Lifeguard certification.

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct daily practices for various swim team groups.
• Attend swim meets regularly.
• Communicate regularly with staff, swimmers, and parents.
• Assist Head Coaches as needed.
• Provides back-up coaching, instruction, or lifeguarding when necessary.
• Reviews meet entries and results; tracks swimmers' attendance and development.
• Teaches swim lessons for all levels and ages; evaluates swimmer placement.
