Job summary

The City of New York's Mayor's Office of Management and Budget seeks an Analyst/Senior Analyst for the Environmental Sustainability and Resiliency Task Force within Sustainability Policy. This role analyzes emissions forecasting, energy metrics, and climate budgeting to support City agencies and initiatives.

The position emphasizes data-driven policy analysis, interagency collaboration, and reporting on climate and energy indicators, with grant funding through August 31, 2028.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and at least two years of full-time experience in budgetary planning/management, financial analysis, or public policy analysis; or a Master's in Economics, Political Science, Public Administration, Public Affairs, Urban Studies, or related field.
• Senior Analyst requires a Bachelor's in Business, Finance, Economics, Public Policy/Administration or related field and at least three years of experience, or a Master's with one year of relevant experience.
• Experience with budgetary and policy analysis in NYC government or similar public sector context is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide forecasting and analysis to increase confidence in NYC's GHG forecasting methods and results.
• Update annual forecast with latest data and emission factors across sectors.
• Revise metrics and methods to evaluate emissions and air quality impacts of funded projects.
• Lead or participate in interagency meetings to validate assumptions and share findings.
• Prepare sections for annual publication summarizing emissions impacts of City actions.
• Model costs, emissions, and public health outcomes for proposed programs.
• Survey literature and conduct statistical analyses of large datasets.
• Develop and implement investment metrics and protocols for sustainability outcomes.
