Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Senior Surveyor to coordinate and supervise project-based survey/layout activities. You will lead on-site survey efforts, coordinate with site leadership and project teams, and support design and preconstruction phases with drone operations, data collection, and precise layout.

The role requires strong surveying expertise, PLS licensure, and the ability to travel up to 100%.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in surveying or related field or equivalent construction experience
• Minimum five years of survey experience in construction
• Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license
• Proficiency with survey software and field equipment

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise project-based survey/layout across multiple projects
• Execute preconstruction and design-phase survey activities including drone flights and data collection
• Support startup activities: equipment coordination, control point verification, site calibration
• Lead daily survey operations with crews up to 10 surveyors
• Layout facilities (pads, roads, utilities) in accordance with design intent
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate layout and construction execution
• Assist machine control operations including GPS setup and data uploads
• Capture as-builts for installed utilities and structures
• Read and interpret project plans related to utilities
• Serve as a primary drone resource for flight operations and data processing
• Participate in training and mentorship to advance survey capabilities
• Commit to safety, quality, and professional customer service
• Travel up to 100% as needed
