Job summary

UTEC, Acteon's Geo-services unit, seeks a Senior Surveyor for offshore US operations. The role represents UTEC on watch, reporting to the Party Chief, ensuring safe, efficient, timely execution and QA of the project.

Education in Geomatics/Surveying is required, with 24 months experience and offshore days. The position involves supervision, data handling, and client liaison on a marine vessel.

Qualifications

  • Education in Geomatics, Surveying Science.
  • Nominally 24 months experience, including offshore days as Surveyor Grade I.
  • Relevant industry, military, or academic survey experience.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise survey operations ensuring safe practices and contractual compliance.
  • Manage mobilisation and demobilisation activities with safety of personnel/assets.
  • Ensure systems comply with contract, procedures, and company standards.
  • Oversee data collection, QC, and distribution per project procedures.
  • Advise on deviation via Change Procedure and document it.
  • Prepare concise operational/field reports per client specs.
  • Complete final reporting and data transfer per procedures.
  • Communicate with client and onshore representatives.
  • Ensure offshore team understands roles and responsibilities.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to supervisors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Senior Surveyor for the Offshoe United States is UTEC's senior representative on a watch reporting to Party Chief or senior representative on vessel and must ensure that all work is conducted in the best interests of UTEC and the Client. He/She must thoroughly understand work specifications, project requirements and client objectives, and is responsible for the safe, efficient and timely execution of, as well as Quality Assurance for the project.

Duties:
  • Supervise survey operations ensuring safe working practices at all times and with due regard to contractual requirements, scope of work, procedures and regulations.
  • Manage mobilisation and demobilisation activities with regard to safety of personnel and assets.
  • Ensure all systems are functioning in compliance with contractual requirements, project procedures and company procedures to effectively conduct the scope of work.
  • Ensure collection, collation, QC and distribution of all survey data relating to the scope of work as per project procedures and company procedures.
  • Advise onshore management, company and client representatives when deviation from the approved procedure is necessary and record through the Management of Change Procedure.
  • Compile operational / field reporting in a concise manner and in accordance with project procedures, client specifications and company procedures.
  • Complete final reporting and data transfer / backup in accordance with accordance with project procedures, client specifications and company procedures.
  • Effectively communicate with client representatives and company representatives onshore.
  • Ensure all personnel in the offshore team understand their roles and responsibilities.
  • Conduct personnel performance reviews/appraisals for your direct reports and provide specific performance data/feedback to supervisors of non-direct reports assigned to your projects.
  • Perform other duties or tasks as assigned.
Required:
  • Education in Geomatics, Surveying Science.
  • Relevant industry experience or military/academic experience in survey related discipline.
  • Nominally 24 months experience, including 200 operational days offshore as a Surveyor Grade I.
