Job summary

NV5 is seeking a qualified Survey Project Manager to join our Charlotte, NC team. This role oversees field crews and the geomatics office, driving accurate surveys, proposals, and timely deliverables for public and private clients.

The candidate should hold NC PLS licensure with 4+ years of surveying experience and 3+ years in management, plus hands-on use of Civil 3D, ORD, and Trimble systems. A valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check are required.

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in North Carolina.
• 4+ years land surveying experience including work with NCDOT and the City of Charlotte.
• 3+ years progressive surveying management experience.
• 2+ years hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
• Proficient in survey computations and platting using Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and OpenRoads.
• Field experience with Trimble and Leica survey equipment, including GPS and robotic total stations.
• Skilled in survey data management using Trimble or Android-based devices.
• Strong self-motivation and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Experience with MS Office and Google Earth for mapping and documentation.
• Valid driver’s license; ability to pass drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of a surveying and geomatics group, overseeing field crews and technical office staff.
• Establish and maintain relationships with key personnel and officials from various organizations.
• Plan, organize, and supervise survey crews, technicians, and support staff to ensure efficient operations.
• Administer contracts and manage projects, coordinating assignments to meet deadlines.
• Develop and lead surveying projects involving complex challenges and propose innovative solutions.
• Prepare detailed proposals for potential surveying and geomatics projects.
• Support monthly billing processes to ensure accurate invoicing.
