Job summary

Rinker Design Associates in Manassas, VA seeks a Senior Survey Project Manager who can lead field and office teams, manage client relationships, and ensure high‑quality survey data across diverse projects. You’ll meet with prospective clients, prepare proposals and budgets, supervise staff, monitor schedules, and keep projects on time and within budget while upholding QA/QC standards.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of combined field and office surveying experience.
  • Professional Land Surveyor (LS/PLS) license preferred
  • Proven experience managing survey projects, schedules, and client relationships
  • Strong knowledge of boundary, topographic, route, and construction surveying.
  • Ability to lead teams and mentor junior staff
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Meet with prospective clients, prepare proposals, and establish budgets and schedules.
  • Maintain liaison with clients to resolve project questions including technical requirements, completion criteria, and billing.
  • Review project changes and assess impact on staffing and budget.
  • Supervise project personnel to meet professional standards.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to meet project requirements.
  • Define scope of multiple complex projects and develop execution plans.
  • Monitor progress toward deliverable schedules and compile status reports.
  • Review job cost sheets and prepare monthly billings.
  • Ensure projects stay within budget allocations.
  • Participate in marketing presentations and meetings.
  • Secure repeat business from existing clients and identify new ones.
  • Oversee work of project managers when assigned.

What You’ll Do:
  • Meet with prospective clients, prepare proposals, and establish budgets and schedules.
  • Maintain close liaison with clients to resolve all project questions, such as, but not limited to, technical requirements, completion requirements and billing inquiries.
  • Review with manager all project changes, pending or anticipated alterations to the contract, additional work requests, and all other factors, which may significantly affect staffing requirements or budget.
  • Supervise work of all project personnel to ensure that it meets the highest professional standards.
  • Coordinate with other internal departments to meet project requirements.
  • Define the scope of multiple, complex projects and develop plan to accomplish projects.
  • Monitor progress toward deliverable schedules.
  • Compile project status reports.
  • Review job cost sheets and prepare monthly billings.
  • Ensure assigned projects stay within budget allocation.
  • Participate in and formulate marketing presentations and attend marketing meetings.

  • Ensure timely services, RDA QA/QC compliant document delivery by personal oversight or effective delegation of task management.
What You’ll Need:
  • 8+ years of combined field and office surveying experience

  • Proven experience managing survey projects, schedules, and client relationships
  • Strong knowledge of boundary, topographic, route, and construction surveying.
