Job summary

Bowman is seeking a Survey Instrument Operator II to join our team in Indianapolis, IN. The role focuses on operating survey instruments, conducting surveys, and supporting field crews on boundary, topography, ALTA, and construction projects.

You will setup and run equipment such as total-station, data-collector, GPS, and level, perform calculations, and train junior personnel while maintaining safety and equipment readiness in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; commensurate relevant experience considered.
• College or technical courses in mathematics and surveying.

Responsibilities

• Perform work under general supervision following established procedures and standards.
• Assist the field supervisor with daily crew workload.
• Work as a member of a survey crew performing boundary, topography, ALTA, right-of-way, and construction surveys for public and private clients.
• Set-up and operate survey equipment including total-station, data-collector, level, and GPS.
• Perform survey calculations and stakeout and locations surveys using applicable equipment.
• Maintain survey equipment and keep survey truck stocked with supplies.
• Coordinate work of assigned personnel and assist/train lower-level staff.
• Make accuracy and calibration checks on equipment; ensure daily safety and instrument care.
