Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent is required.
• 6 years of related work experience.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room ensuring instrumentation, supplies and equipment are available for cases.
• Performs surgical counts with RN prior to procedures.
• Ensures majority of sterile field is set up prior to patient transfer.
• Anticipates instrumentation needs to support case turnover time.
• Maintains sterile technique and gowns gloves, passes instruments, and drapes sterile field.
• Counts sponges, blades, needles, and instruments and responds to requests.
• Communicates with team regarding changes in surgeon's preferences and implants.
• Assists with terminal sterilization and instrument reprocessing tasks.
• Ensures room turnover and supplies are restocked for the next case.
• Mentors, coaches and precepts other staff and students.
