Job summary

Lee's Summit Medical Center is seeking an OR Tech III to support the operating room team in patient care, equipment and supplies management. The role emphasizes understanding the procedure, anticipating the surgeon's needs, and maintaining the sterile field across scrub roles, including assisting during the operative procedure with sponging, suctioning and handling endoscopic equipment.

This position requires vigilance for sterile technique and ability to coordinate with anesthesia and nursing

Qualifications

• Completion of a Surgical Technician program or evidence of recent Surgical Technician experience.
• NBSTSA CST certification required upon hire; BLS required upon hire.
• Minimum two years in a similar facility; lead capability in Robotic, Total Joints, Neuro/Spine, Burn and Vascular Surgery.

Responsibilities

• Assist OR team in care of patients, equipment and supplies.
• Provide age-appropriate patient care from 12 years old to geriatric.
• Handle instruments, supplies and equipment during procedures as first scrub.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and maintain sterile field vigil.
• Second scrub role: assist surgeon by sponging, suctioning, cutting, retractors, endoscopic camera.

Education

Surgical Technician program or equivalent training

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification
