Houston Methodist is seeking a Senior Surgical Technologist (L&D) to support obstetric and gynecologic procedures. The role requires independent judgment, mentoring of other technologists, and collaboration with physicians and nursing staff to ensure patient safety and high-quality care.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent education (GED, homeschool equivalency or similar).
• Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or military training equivalency.
• Two years as a Surgical Technologist.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; CST/CSA or NCCT TS-C or grandfather clause per SB1239 guidance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating room, equipment and supplies for procedures; anticipate needs for obstetric surgeries.
• Assist obstetrical procedures including vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections.
• Mentor and orient new surgical technologists; train others in department.
• Maintain sterile technique and assist with instrument handling and counts.
