Qualifications

• High School GED General Studies required.
• Must have either one year of acute hospital OR three years acute care hospital experience.
• Certification in Operating Room within past three years preferred or equivalent experience.
• Graduate of an accredited scrub technician program.
• In lieu of certification, 3 years acute hospital experience may be accepted.
• Basic Life Support - CPR required at hire.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, visitors, staff and physicians promptly and courteously.
• Participate in staffing needs of the department and hospital.
• Set up the operating room prior to surgery and arrange instruments/equipment.
• Assist with ongoing procedure data collection with RN.
• Plan scrub activities based on priority of needs.
• Plan activities based on priority patient care needs with available resources.

As a Surgical Tech, you will function as an integral team member across all phases of the surgical procedure. Your role is vital for seamless transitions and comprehensive patient care. Every day you will collaborate with the surgical team, meticulously preparing the operating room, assisting the surgeon, and managing instruments and supplies. You will maintain a sterile field and anticipate team needs for efficiency and patient safety. To be successful, you will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and effective performance under pressure. Your commitment to teamwork and sterile technique will be paramount for safe and successful surgical outcomes.

• Ensures a professional and responsive atmosphere by greeting patients, visitors, staff, and physicians promptly and courteously. Refers to each individual by name when appropriate.
• Participates actively in the staffing needs of the department and hospital.
• Participate in setting up an operating room prior to surgery, opening sterile packs and arranging instruments and equipment according to surgical procedures.
• Assists with ongoing procedure data collection with RN.
• Plans activities (in scrub role) based on priority of physical and procedural needs.
• Plans activities that are based on priority patient care needs considering available resources of time, equipment and supplies.

Job Requirements

Required

• High School GED General Studies and
• Must have either one (1) year of previous acute hospital experience with certification within the past three (3) years in an Operating Room
• or three (3) years acute care hospital experience within the last five (5) years, upon hire or
• High School Graduate General Studies and

• Total joint surgery experience within the past five (5) years
