Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED and current basic life support certification.
• Where applicable must be registered with State Regulatory Agency.
• Manual dexterity and the ability to maintain professional decorum in highly stressful emergent situations.
• The ability to stay abreast of new developments in the field.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for surgical procedures by pulling appropriate instruments and supplies.
• Anticipates the surgeon's needs and passes instruments; retracts tissue as needed.
• Maintains aseptic technique; counts sharps, instruments and sponges; prepares instruments for cleaning.
• Assists with OR turnover, stocking, replenishing supplies and cleaning operating rooms.
• Provides administrative support to the department as assigned; participates in training staff.
