Job summary

Banner Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming, is seeking a Senior Surgical Technologist to scrub in and support the OR team. You will prepare instruments, assist during surgery, and ensure sterile technique while maintaining patient safety.

This full-time role offers weekend shifts with a 30% differential and opportunities for training and advancement. A high school diploma, BLS, and surgical tech certification or two to three years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and current BLS certification.
• Certified as a surgical technologist or 2–3 years of experience in a surgical technologist role.
• Must scrub proficiently on a minimum of two surgical specialties.
• State registration if required where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for surgical procedures by pulling instruments and supplies and ensuring good working order of instruments.
• Anticipates the surgeon's needs; passes instruments and retracts tissue.
• Demonstrates aseptic technique and universal precautions; participates in counting and prepares instruments for cleaning.
• Ensures surgeon preference cards and pick lists are accurate.
• Assists with OR turnover, stocking and cleaning operating rooms.
• Participates in or leads training and orientation of surgical technology staff and students.
• Provides business support to the department as needed.
• Follows safety procedures for labeling, handling of specimens, sharps, time-out procedures, radiation and laser safety.
