Montefiore Medical Center's Division of Clinical Pathology seeks a Laboratory Supervisor for Surgical Pathology to oversee daily operations, ensure quality, and maintain compliance across IHC workflows. The position requires hands-on histology experience, licensure as a NYS clinical laboratory technologist, and ASCP/NSH credentials preferred, with strong QA/QC and regulatory knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a related field.
• Surgical/Histology lab processes experience required.
• NYS DOe CLT license required.
• ASCP/NSH certification preferred.
• Strong knowledge of histology, IHC, and QA/QC practices.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day lab operations aligning with goals.
• Conduct basic data analysis to monitor lab performance.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Review quality control data as required.
• Develop and implement SOPs for IHC processes.
• Ensure safety policies are followed in the lab.
• Manage staff: recruit, orient, train, and evaluate.
• Schedule and assign staff; monitor competency.
• Investigate issues and drive corrective actions.
• Manage reagents and supplies inventory.
• Communicate workload and concerns to leadership.
• Provide operational support for workflow gaps (embedding, microtomy, slide scanning, block filing).
• Other duties as assigned.
