Job summary

Magnolia Oil & Gas is seeking a Surface Landman to support surface land and planning efforts in Giddings, TX. This role will coordinate with landowners, field teams, and vendors to secure surface-related agreements, permits, and access for drilling and facility construction.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of landman experience, strong Texas land knowledge, and excellent organizational skills. Proficiency with Excel and familiarity with P2Land and Zendesk are valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Texas land knowledge is highly preferred.
• 5+ years of experience as a Landman in oil and gas.
• Experience securing surface use agreements, permits, and rights-of-way.
• Preferred RL, RPL, or CPL certification; AAPL membership is a plus.
• Knowledge of P2Land and Zendesk systems.

Responsibilities

• Secure and manage surface-related agreements (rights-of-way, surface use agreements, water well use agreements, etc.).
• Administer surface-related payments to landowners (water purchases, surface damages, etc.).
• Securing county, floodplain, FAA, TXDOT permits for surface locations and related activities.
• Represent Magnolia in landowner communications and resolve field operation issues.
• Coordinate with Landmen, foremen, and operations teams to support landowner notifications and access needs.
• Support plugging, workover, drilling, completion, production, and facility operations by securing access and coordinating landowner communications.
• Assist with surface planning by identifying potential surface sites and ensuring site access meets drilling/production specs.
• Plan and route water transfers and coordinate with contractors to support infrastructure projects.
• Coordinate with surveyors, contractors, and internal teams for timely construction of surface locations and related infrastructure.
• Provide coverage for surface land responsibilities during absences or workload changes.
