Job summary

Magnolia Oil & Gas in Texas seeks a Surface Landman to support surface land and planning efforts. The role requires organization, detail-orientation, and the ability to balance multiple priorities within the Land team and across disciplines.

You will secure agreements, manage landowner communications, and coordinate permits, water transfers, and surface development planning. Strong Excel skills and cross-functional collaboration are essential in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 5+ years of experience as an oil and gas Landman required.
• Direct surface land experience in Texas required.
• Experience securing surface use agreements, rights-of-way, permits, water use agreements, and damage releases preferred.
• RL, RPL or CPL Certification preferred.
• Member of AAPL preferred.
• Knowledge and experience with P2Land and Zendesk preferred.

Responsibilities

• Secure and manage surface-related agreements to support field operations.
• Administer surface-related payments to landowners.
• Secure required permits for surface locations and related activities.
• Represent Magnolia in communications with landowners and resolve issues.
• Coordinate with internal teams to support landowner notifications and access needs.
• Support plugging, workover, drilling, completion, and production by securing access and coordinating landowner communications.
• Assist with surface planning by identifying potential surface sites and ensuring site access.
• Plan and route water transfers while complying with agreements.
• Coordinate with surveyors, contractors, and vendors to support construction of surface locations and infrastructure.
• Provide coverage for related surface land responsibilities as needed.
