Job summary

Core Specialty Insurance Holdings, Inc. seeks an AVP of Surety Claims to establish and lead the Surety Claims department in Cincinnati. The role requires directing reserves, subrogation, and recovery, while coaching staff and coordinating with HR, underwriting, and external counsel.

The candidate will participate in mediation, settlements, and trials as required, travel as needed, and ensure adherence to KPI metrics set by the Division President.

Qualifications

• College degree required; JD preferred for leadership in claims.
• Experience in surety claims handling and litigation is essential.
• Ability to travel and lead a team with strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Establish and oversee Surety Claims department and operations.
• Manage reserves, subrogation, and recovery efforts according to policy.
• Coach and develop direct reports; align with HR for performance issues.
• Engage with reinsurance placements and outside counsel as needed.
• Support underwriting and participate in mediations, settlements, and trials.
