Job summary

Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) seeks a Senior Support Engineer for Cloud Platforms to guide customer teams using our cloud solutions. You will collaborate with cloud, DevOps, hardware, software, and security engineers to design intuitive, scalable deployments and automation on Kubernetes.

This full-time, onsite role in Fort Worth, TX requires US citizenship, DoD Secret clearance or higher, and substantial experience in engineering or related fields.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Current DoD Secret Clearance (or higher).
• BS, MS or PhD in engineering, CS, physics, OR/Math or related field.
• 8+ years relevant work experience with BS; 6+ with MS.
• Ability to obtain SAP access and DoD 8570 IAT Level II within 60 days.

Job description

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary collaborative team of cloud, DevOps, hardware, software, and security engineers. You will advise and support customer teams of more than one hundred developers (and growing) on their usage and implementation of our cloud platform solutions. You will be part of our employee-owned international research and engineering company. ARA is recognized for providing technically superior solutions to complex and challenging problems in the physical sciences, and you will be on this team.

• You will work with customers and developers to understand and elicit requirements and build intuitive, interactive, and flexible solutions to complex problems
• You will support and enhance a cloud platform that:
  • Automates access to a suite of shared services, including software development tools.
  • Automates deployment and upgrades of the environment using infrastructure and configuration as code
  • Uses Kubernetes as the foundation
  • Automates compliance and security for cloud services
• You will be working closely with tech leads, developers, and DevOps engineers so a team player personality and excellent written/oral communication skills will be essential.

Senior Support Engineer – Cloud Platforms Position Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship (No exceptions; green card holders are not eligible).
• Current DoD Secret Clearance (or higher).
• BS, MS, or PhD in engineering, computer science, physics, operations research, applied mathematics, or a closely related field.
• 8+ years relevant work experience with BS
• 6+ years relevant work experience with MS
• Successfully acquire and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) access
• Successfully obtain DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (Security+, CCNA-Security, etc.) within 60 days of hire.
• Team player with excellent communication skills.
• Relocation to Fort Worth, TX; this is a full-time onsite position involving close collaboration with customer teams (no remote work).
• Qualified candidates who accept an offer of employment will be subject to completing a national security risk assessment based on SEAD-3 reporting requirements. All offers of employment will be contingent upon a favorable national security risk assessment based on SEAD-3 reporting requirements.
